Media affects society in many different ways. They could affect us positively and negatively depending if we do listen to the media. But there are too many negative effects on society today. According to the 2nd source i have, in the first paragraph they already ask you questions always leads us to the main influence, media. Media affects the way we act and think which is true. For example, the people magazine cover in the 3rd link or source above and it shows some celebrity took weight loss to the extreme because of the media today. The bright side of media affecting us today is that there also people using media to give a positive message. For example, commercials and psa are evidence of media affecting us positively.

Macbeth Final

Macbeth was a man that had dreams to become a king. He was able to work his way up and become general of Scotland and was able to lead the army to victory. As a reward for Macbeth's victory King Duncan promotes him and now Macbeth became the thane of cawdor. As soon as he gets promoted he runs into these witches that tell Macbeth that he is soon to be king. Macbeth being to blinded by power he went to grab his throne a bit too early by murdering the king who was in his household. Once you have become so greedy with power, it in the end you won't be able to truly reach your goals/dreams.

The reason why i chose this theme is because Macbeth chose the wrong path to get to his dream which is the throne."If we could get away with the deed after it's done, then the quicker it were done the better."(Act 1 Scene 7 Lines 1-2). In Macbeth's soliloquy he debates himself on whether or not he should kill King Duncan. He comes to the conclusion that he shouldn't do it but he just murders the king anyway because he reminds himself of the prediction made from the witches and thought it was fate for him to be in his house.

Another reason why the theme fits the story Macbeth because he kills his own friend to stay on his throne. "To be thus-a king-is nothing. I must be safely thus. I fear Banquo deeply. In his regal nature. there's a ruling agreement to be feared." (Act 3 Scene 1 Lines 3-6) Macbeth tells these things to his murders to kill Banquo because he fears that he might kill him to get the throne. Macbeth remembers what the witches predicted, "Third Witch: You shall be father kings, yet not be one yourself. So all hail, Macbeth and Banquo" (Act 1 Scene 3 Lines 15-16). Macbeth fearing that he will try and grab his throne and sons to take the future throne he decides to kill him and and attempts to kill his son (Fleance) as well.

Lastly, the theme of the story Macbeth is to not let greed and power take over your life. Macbeth's next target were Macduff's family. "Time, you thwart my dreadful plans. Unless a person does something the second he thinks of it, he’ll never get a chance to do it. From now on, as soon as I decide to do something I’m going to act immediately. In fact, I’ll start following up my thoughts with actions right now. I’ll raid Macduff’s castle, seize the town of Fife, and kill his wife, his children, and anyone else unfortunate enough to stand in line for his inheritance. No more foolish talk. I will do this deed before I lose my sense of purpose. But no more spooky visions!—Where are the messengers? Come, bring me to them."(Act 4 Scene 1 Lines 12-19) His next target is Macduff's family because he wants to try and stop Macduff from plotting against him but as soon Macduff hears about his family dead, it was already too late for Macbeth to prevent a war from happening. It was also too late for Macbeth too stay on his throne.

In conclusion, the theme that i chose perfectly fits this story. The murders of King Duncan, Banquo, and Macduff's family all prove that he was too scared of losing his power. If he were to not let greed and power blind his judgement, he would've been able to be a successful king that would be adored by all the subject and people of his kingdom. Everyone would've acknowledged him as a king rather than a murder and a thief who stole the throne.

Rough Draft Macbeth

In the beginning of the story Macbeth, it starts off as they just a came out of a successful war. Then a messenger is sent to tell King Duncan that the war has been finished and General Macbeth was the reason why Scotland won and they are about to arrive at the castle. On the way to the castle, Macbeth and his friend Banquo sees three witches. As they pass by the three witches start praising Macbeth as the King. They stop and talk to the witches and the witches gives them prophecies that Macbeth will soon become the thane of Cawdor and a future king. Then they tell Banquo that he will become a father of future kings. After the witches told these things they leave them. When Macbeth arrives at the Duncan's castle Duncan promotes Macbeth as the thane of Cawdor. Macbeth thinking that what the witches' prophecies are all correct does a horrible deed to get to the throne. Macbeth being power hungry kills King Duncan as he was fast asleep in Macbeth's home. After his death Macbeth has taken the throne but he becomes crazy and starts killing a lot of his subjects even his own friend Banquo because he felt that they were all a threat to his throne. Although Macbeth killed those that were a threat to his throne he wasn't able to kill the son of Duncan, Malcolm who was raising an army the whole time to kill Macbeth along with the general who took Macbeth's place when Macbeth was the thane of cawdor, Macduff. In the end, Macbeth loses the war and dies. The theme that i chose for this story is to not let greed take over your life.

Macbeth Pre R

1. Behind every great man is a great woman (every great man is supported, guided, helped and even pushed by a great woman). This is true because man has always been guided by a woman since the beginning of time. Like the story of Adam and Eve, God created women as a partner of man and a guide of man. For me i am always supported, guided, and helped by my mother.

2. Witches, demons, and evil spirits actually exist. I agree because there are people that do witchcraft and seen demons or any evil spirits. The saying "Where there is good there is always evil" is what i believe in.

3. Sometimes it necessary to do something wrong to get what you want. I agree because of personal experience. Before my parent would always be hesitant of me playing basketball with my friends because of my grades before. What i did to make that happen was to lie that i had to do this for my video project or a friends video at school.

4. What goes around comes around is true. Its true because i've seen people that choose to do stuff that are either good or bad and the outcome depends on the situation. Or if someone does a good deed to others good things will happen back, but if it is a bad deed a bad thing will come back to you. From my personal experience i had to choose whether or not i would help out my sisters teacher film a service at church. I didnt want to at first because it would take away my time of playing basketball with friends at church with friends. But i chose to do that and it turns out she has a show in Olelo and she rewarded me with money!

5. Human beings are easily tempted by things they want, even if its wrong. I agree because im always been tempted by friends by things that they have that i want. My cousin always tempts me to do weird stuff to get the things i want from him.

6. If someone feels that the ruler/s of his/her country is destroying the country, that person should try to overthrow the ruler/s. I agree because it for the benefit of the country. If i were to let it slide then it would mean that i don't care about our country.

7. There are circumstances or events that justify murdering someone. I agree but only if i was in a self defense situation. I would kill the person thats trying to kill me.

8. Success is worth any price you have to pay. I agree because if you were to put effort into everything you do then you would get closer to your goal. My goal right now is to make the high school basketball team for now and im working hard to get there.

9. Kings are appointed by God, and they rule as His representatives on Earth. I disagree because there were kings in israel that was appointed by man. The first king of israel was saul and he was appointed by man

10. Your astrological forecast (your horoscope) is a good indicator of how your day will go. I disagree if you were to read it first thing in the morning then most likely you will make it happen. I believe that man is the ones that controls how their day go.

11. Traitors shouldn't be executed because some could have a good reason. There are peopl that make them look like traitors but in actuality they could be doing it on purpose to do what they want.

Partner Questions(Mimi) :
  1. Is evil inherent in human nature? That is, are some people just “born evil,” or is evil caused by circumstance or environment? We both think that no one is born with evil in them and that because of the society evil has grown into people. Sometimes people think about doing evil things but its their free-will to choose not to.
  2. Are our lives determined by fate, or by the acts of our free will? We think its both because   we think that there is a set plan and if things were meant to happen then they will happen but it a persons choice whether or not they want to follow that path or go a different direction.
  3. Is redemption truly possible? That is, is it possible to commit an act of genuine evil and truly recover from it? Yes, but it would tough because change is very hard and if a person commits an evil act then it would be hard to change their views unless they are committed to changing.
  4. Is it possible to admire or respect a person whom you know has committed acts of genuine evil? No, when you commit something evil people look and judge you differently so others don't want to be judged either.
  5. Do “the ends justify the means”? That is, if one uses morally evil methods to acquire a goal, is that goal forever tainted or polluted by the actions one has taken to achieve it? We think that if a person uses evil to reach a goal then they will forever haunted by the evil they have done.

Dialectecal Journal #3

1. When we think of family, they are people who we love and care about and we always put them first over everything. But the book Night proves that in some scenarios there will be people who choose themselves over their own family.

2. Elie Wiesel is quite similar to the man of the Bible Job.  They both went through many trials but never lost faith in God who can bring them out of their troubles.
